Remora is a catalyzer towards sustainable fisheries, focusing on seafood traceability in small scale fisheries, we believe in transparency from the sea-to-the-plate. Nearly 90% of the world’s marine fish stocks are overexploited. We developed technology to collect data throughout the three main segments of the supply chain: catch, landing, and commercialization. We aim to help fishermen to increase their product value, give a tool for policy-makers to regulate and understand their marine stock, and enable end-consumers to make better choices towards responsibly caught fish.

Remora 's Story

Nearly 75% of the world’s marine fish stocks are now fully exploited, overexploited or depleted. Small scale fisheries catch 50% of the fish that is consumed by the World, 3.7 million small artisan boats that are part of the over-exploitation of the Oceans. The fundamental problem is that right now they get very low margins for their catch, making them catch more while depleting the ocean, a catastrophic cycle.

Fishermen have the power to protect our oceans or destroy it, is in us to bring a model to push the balance towards sustainable practices. A well-managed fishery would help the ocean ecosystem, give food security to coastal communities, and preserve biodiversity.
