BeeSage
BeeSage consists of a web app and multiple devices starting with our Smart Beehive Scales. Once per hour they measure weight, temperature and humidity in the apiary to help beekeepers evaluate the strength of a colony and take advantage of peak blooming periods. Through cellular connectivity data is securely stored on BeeSage cloud. Other devices will plug into the same system, including Sensor Node, which records temperature and humidity from the brood and also sound to detect various issues.
BeeSage's Story
This journey started serendipitously at an IoT hackathon where Ru, a self-taught web developer with a marketing background, met Girts, an experienced electronics engineer, who’s dad is a hobby beekeeper. The first prototype was created in 36 hours, and we won the first place from both the judging panel and the audience.
Bees are essential to food security as 3/4 of crops depend on them. Our most-productive pollinators are threatened by pesticides, invasive predators and climate change, hence, beekeepers have huge losses as they are finding their traditional methods aren’t working as well anymore.
Our mission is enabling bees to share knowledge with humans through real-time data, thus influencing policy makers towards environmental protection.
