Small and medium scale livestock farmers in Africa lose millions of their animals and billions in investment to changing climatic conditions, poor management practices, and archaic technologies. Also, billions of data points are lost on farms every day.
Farmspeak Technology™ is bridging this gap by designing, developing, and selling smart hardware and software solutions to African farmers. By installing Penkeep (hardware) on their farm, they get real-time updates of the microclimatic data and can automate operations like heating, cooling, feeding, and drinking. FS Manager (software) allows them to digitize their manual record-keeping processes.
Farmspeak 's Story
I grew up with my parents who were poultry farmers. I saw the problems and challenges they faced while raising chickens & turkeys. So when Hult Prize 2018 came around, I decided to build a team to solve this problem.
Poultry farmers experience high mortality rate, which reduces their profits and increase their production costs.
That’s why several people are leaving the business because they run into massive losses and remain poor. That increases food insecurity for the nation.
We decided to make poultry farming business more attractive for farmers while increasing food sufficiency for Nigeria.
