GerWeiss Motors Corporation
GerWeiss Motors has developed a scaleable and locally deployable electric vehicle ecosystem which includes fast charging, battery hot swapping, solar charging, and local maintenance and service stations.
Our focus is on deploying these ecosystems for the use of Public Transport Tuk-Tuk/Tricycle drivers to reduce their operating cost to enhance their income and eliminate the millions of tons of pollution their vehicles generate annually.
GerWeiss Motors's Story
“GerWeiss Motors was started as a family business by the founders, Spouses Gerard and Edelweiss Villoria, in an effort to leave a better future for their children after they saw the documentary an Inconvenient Truth.
Our perspective changed and shifted after we learned of the plight of the tricycle drivers who normally work 12-16 hour shifts to take home $5 dollars a day to their families of 5.
In the Philippines there are 4.5 million families that rely on the tricycle as a sole source for their livelihood. These drivers battle extreme heat, extreme rains, toxic fumes from their two stroke motorcycle engines, and sun exposure every single day just to put food on their family’s table. Sometimes it becomes like a generational curse, as some of them eventually pass away due to health complications born from driving the vehicle regularly, and their children inherit the vehicle and begin operating as well.
It’s so much more than climate change. We’ve dedicated our lives to uplifting these families from poverty.”
