People have and buy a lot of stuff, but don’t know what to do with it – only 10% of unused things are sold second hand because remembering to sell, writing an ad and dealing with rude buyers is too annoying for most. This is causing a shortage of conveniently accessible, trustworthy items, so 65% of people globally just buy new. Minimist uses AI to enable ‘letting go’ of anything in under 10 seconds. You scan your stuff and instantly get the best destination for it: selling to a nearby peer or company, donating or recycling.

Minimist's Story

Your friend or neighbour has a guitar, book or smartphone they’re not using anymore lying around in their cupboard, that you end up buying brand new from Amazon. This is very inefficient – the production, transportation and disposal of consumer goods contributes as much as 65% of all carbon emissions globally. If we can figure out how to find everything we need second hand, and almost never buy anything new ever again, we can make a big difference to climate change.
