Plan A
Plan A has developed the first Carbon Reduction Software which helps businesses calculate, monitor and reduce their carbon footprint monthly, while automatically building each month a tailored sustainability action plan and offsetting schemes, according to the footprint of the company. The technology behind the software uses insights from the Plan A algorithm which analyses over 300,000 data points to predict and prioritize the most critical environmental issues and the way industries and companies impact these environmental changes.
Plan A's Story
The founder of Plan A, Lubomila, realised on a trip to Morocco in 2016 how far we have gotten with regards to the mistreatment of the planet and overconsumption of its resources while sitting on Banana Beach, which was covered in burned plastic and garbage. An hour later she had collected 6 pairs of shoes, burned plastic bottles, construction site materials and endless amounts of other types of garbage. Back then she was working in a fintech startup in London and when she came back from her trip she started noticing how dirty London was and how the issue was equally as dramatic, although with a different face.
In the weeks to follow, she started investigating the issues of pollution, its relation to climate change and was perplexed by the way science, politics and media were unable to agree on definitions of problems and solutions, shifting responsibility from businesses to government to individuals.
She started surveying people to understand what was their relation to the issues of climate change and giving and found out they were facing the problem of mismatch between statistics for the unknown future (e.g. “2050 – no more wildlife”) and their own life (most often city one).
Then she talked to environmental NGOs and found out they, on the other hand, suffer from lack of access to flexible funding (which is not simply related to CSR programs) and the loyal community.
These insights triggered her resignation from the fintech startup in London and led to the beginning of the Plan A journey.
