vorteX.io offers an innovative and intelligent solution for monitoring and alerting populations, using non-invasive remote sensing instruments based on the compact space-based altimeter. It provides in real-time, with high frequency and with an accuracy close to the centimeter, water level measurements of hydrological systems.

The team of vorteX.io is composed at this stage of its two co-founders Guillaume VALLADEAU and Jean-Christophe POISSON. They know each other and work together for many years and show good complementarity in terms of skills and contribution to the startup. Recently they found their lead developer Jeremy HAHN who is in charge of the set up of the cloud-based processing aspects of our services.

vorteX.io's Story

In global warming and climate change context, populations all over the world are impacted by an increasing number of hydrological crisis (flood events, droughts, …), mainly linked to the lack of knowledge and monitoring of the surrounding water bodies (rivers, lake, …). Although satellite altimetry technology has already demonstrated its benefits to observe large scale evolution of the ocean or over a whole hydrology basin, it is not designed to monitor short-scale hydrological phenomena such as flood events. In Europe for instance, although the main rivers are properly monitored, a wide set of small rivers contributing to flood events are not monitored at all. Therefore there is a real need for new affordable and flexible solutions for monitoring hydrological areas in order to address climate change and flood risk within the water big cycle.
